Dear All: Debby Pattin checking in from Bellingham on today's WSDCC meetings.
1st, the Presidential Preference Primary w/ post primary caucus delegate selection plan was defeated. The testimony was recorded by TVW so you may see my testimony on TV. I spoke to the importance of assuring that the 20,000+ active duty service members registered to vote in WA state have a chance to select their candidate for Commander in Chief. I tried. :(
2nd, related to the above vote, the resolutions to move a primary to Feb. 5, should the legislature not decide to cancel
the primary if the parties are not going to use it to select delegates, also was defeated. So, if WA does have even
a "beauty contest" non binding primary, it won't be until at least mid-March or maybe even May.
3rd, David Edward's half mast flag resolution also was defeated. I did speak in favor of it in David's stead.
4th, the 2008 State Convention location vote was for Spokane. It will be the 2nd weekend of June 2008, the week following the Republican state convention in the same locale.
Roger, Jim and I picked up the big order of PCO handbooks that Elizabeth requested for our 100 PCO project, as well as door hangers provided by the party.
Following the WSDCC meeting, Zach Smith and I accepted the invitation from the Unity Caucuses group to meet with as reps of the caucuses we serve on (Zach - Labor, Deb - Vets & Military Families). We had refreshments provided by Whatcom Co. Democrats and then had a meeting next door w/ members of all the other caucuses of WSDCC (except no one from the Jewish caucus was able to attend). That was a productive meeting. I'll give more updates later.
That's it for now. I'm staying over tonight and will drive home Sun. a.m.
