Dear All: I realize that Sat. 5/12 is the day of Rep. Adam Smith's
town hall meeting (which I, myself, plan to attend), but if anyone is
not attending the town hall meeting, or could work
in the morning before the town hall meeting, PLEASE call or email the
Betty at the Food Bank: 352-8597 ext 103 or
volunteers at thurstoncountyfoodbank.org.
This is the date of the big postal carrier food drive which we heard
about last month at the TCDCC mtg.
Let's show the community that we Democrats "Walk the Walk."
And speaking of walking, please don't forget the CROP Walk this Sunday,
May 5th. Gov. Gregoire will be the "kick off" speaker at 12:30.
Taking part in the CROP Walk will give
you two chances in a row to hear her speak....Saturday night at the JJ
Dinner and Sun. afternoon at the CROP Walk. If you haven't yet signed
up to walk or pledge, please visit the Thurston County Democrat page on
the CROP Walk website:

> Greetings Valued Volunteers,
>
> A few days ago I sent emails to the evening volunteers and the
> volunteer board members about helping on Saturday, May 12th, 10 a.m.
> to 2pm to get the rest of the supplemental food program product bagged
> and stored. Plus if there are other things to do, volunteers would be
> assigned.
>
> So far, there has been 1 response; I may be impatient yet it is
> important to have help with this project.
>
> IF YOU HAVE TIME, please let me know if you can help on Saturday, May
> 12th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or any time within those hours. Or if you
> have family or friends to share this information, please ask them to
> contact me if they can help.
>
> So far for the 4th Tuesday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon, there
> are 5 volunteers, 2 of which are new and another is 1 time only.
> Should you know of someone who would be willing to work 1 day a month
> for 3 hours, please refer them to me at 352-8597 ext 103 or
> volunteers at thurstoncountyfoodbank.org.
>
> We are trying to assist ahead of time, the 4th Wednesday volunteers
> with various tasks that will expedite the making of bags-especially.
> So that means volunteers to make sure the barrels are full, shelves
> with product are full and commodity product of both programs is
> available, etc.
>
> I am trying to find new volunteers. If you choose to work that 4th
> Tuesday as well, that's fine. It is important you not "burn out" or
> get overcommitted. There needs to be joy and satisfaction when doing
> any task.
>
> Thanks for passing this information on to others. Take care and until
> we meet again, I bid you peace and joy. Betty Rose
