Dear TCD folks: An update to tell you that Roger, Elizabeth and I (the
'committee') have just about finished the booking of
the caucus sites and the placement of precincts within same.
Thanks to Tim L. for helping w/ the assignment of the 2nd LD precincts.
That was a help!

Eliz. will be talking to Russ for some suggestions on placements of the
new Lacey precincts. We are at a real disadvantage this
year in that we've been unable to secure ANY of the N. Thurston high
schools and are having to utilize the middle and grade schools
(and not all the middle schools are available). We have a real shortage
of space in the eastern part of the county.

On a good note, we were able to take off some of the huge overage on
the west side of the county by securing both Griffin School
and Prosperity Grange on Steamboat Island, and to pick up some
additional grade schools in west Olympia (LP Brown and Hansen).

And of special interest, money-wise, we've found a site on the TESC
campus, the Housing Community Center, that is way less money
than the Longhouse (only $150 compared to $800...well, it may be more
now...$800 was the 2004 price). We are only putting two
precincts in that site due to its modest size...College (the TESC
precinct) and Sunset Beach (immediately adjacent...Chris Stearns'
precinct) so we will have
a very experienced site leader (Chris) with a precinct that may not
even have a PCO (Roberta Zens is moving to East Bay Drive).

The goal of 'the committee' is to have these sites finalized in time
for Christi to post online the sites by the night of the "Evening With
Mike Farrell"
event on Oct. 18th. That way folks who stop by the TCD table can pick
up their "caucus invitation" with the link to the caucus location page
on our site.

We have spent a jillion hours on this and we are not quite finished,
but almost. Unfortunately for "the committee," I have to leave Thurs.
(10.11) for N. CA
to see my daughter for Parents Weekend at Humboldt State Univ. Eliz
and Roger are going to finish up and then we will regroup after I get
back
Tues. night (10.15) before the Farrell event on 10.18.

I hope this is the LAST time we have to do this caucus work!! (enough
lobbying for a primary, John is saying!).

Talk to you next week,
Debby
