Sorry for the delayed response. I am down at Humboldt
State U (in the redwoods, n. CA) with my daughter for Parents Weekend. Was
at the Homecoming events and didn't get to email until this a.m.

I am in agreement....we have way too much going on locally, in addition to
the activity w/ the Meet Up (08 pres.) groups activities to take on a DNC
imposed national event on such short notice.

In addition to the local campaigns' last minute events before election day
(and there are plenty), Thurston Co. Democrats and two of the `08 Pres.
meet up groups will have just finished the big Mike Farrell Community
Activism event at SPSCC. I know that TCD's table will be passing out small
color invitations asking people to log on to the link,find their caucus
site, and plan to attend the Feb. 9 caucuses. PLUS, to attend the
pre-caucus forums that Emmett is putting togehter (as in 2004).  And the
Obama meet up group has a similar invitation.

There are a variety of other progressive groups tabling at that Oct. 18th
event and I am sure they are trying to active people, as well.

And then the initiatives....if we want to get people involved, now, the
first week of Nov., we should be doing phone banking for 4204. There are a
series of phone bank opportunites the end of Oct. and first of Nov. in
Yelm, Tum and N. Thurston (Oly isn't coordinating a Simple Majority
phoning). So let's send out a "blast email" on some of these events and
not distract ourselves from the prize...electing Democrats to local races
here at home, and passing initatives that will help people / kids, also
here at home.
