Subject: [Obama-CD3] State Convention Update - Obama delegates/alternates

Dear Thurston Co. Obama delegates. Are we FIRED UP, READY TO GO, or  
what? I am so proud of our candidate who proved, beyond a doubt, in  
his speech last night that he is a class act. Such humility. So  
gracious. What a leader he will be for our nation and our world. We  
still have LOTS of work to do, though, and the next big event is the  
upcoming State Convention. (I know this email is reaching a few who  
will be unable to attend, so if you've already reported that you  
cannot attend, just disregard the message). There is lots of info. in  
this email. See five (5) important convention updates below:

1) There is a HOTEL ROOM AVAILABLE at the Doubletree (the convention  
hotel). Lisa Strange isn't able to attend and is offering to switch  
the reservation to a member(s) of our delegation, rather than just  
releasing it. The host hotels are sold out, so this would be an  
opportunity to get a room closer to the convention. If you want to  
switch to the Doubletree, or have not booked a room at all, please  
contact Lisa at 701-0037 or

for three nights, it can be changed to less / more.

2) Needed: RIDE FOR BIKE & DELEGATE. Does anyones driving to Spokane  
have a bike rack or room inside their rig for a bike, and space for a  
rider?
	Craig Morrin says: "I am looking to carpool with anyone to Spokane  
for the Convention.  I have my own car, but it is a '78 Datsun, and  
not the most reliable.  I am going to be staying at a campground  
about 5 miles away (because I hate staying in hotels), so in order  
for it to work, I would need to carpool with someone who has a bike  
rack, or can fit my 10-speed in somehow.   I am also happy to help  
pay for any expenses."

3) Obama HOSPITALITY SUITE: At the host hotel, Red Lion at the Park,  
the Obama Grassroots will have a hospitality suite both Friday and  
Saturday nights. It will be in the Cavanaugh Suite, and will open  
Fri. night following the banquet (John Kerry is the keynote speaker),  
and again Saturday night following the close of the Convention business.
If you have refreshment items to bring, please let me know.  Also, if  
you have room in your vehicle to carry over some of the supplies,

4) Obama INFO TABLE Obama Grassroots has rented (for $300! - yikes!)  
an info table and it will be staffed with Obama volunteers all  
weekend. If you have any time to take a shift at this table, let me  
know. We will be selling buttons, bumper stickers, etc.

5) Running for At LARGE or PLEO CANDIDATE:  June 10, 5 p.m. is the  
deadline to submit your 'Declaration of Candidacy' to run for an At  
Large or PLEO delegate.  Currently there are close to 400 candidates  
for At Large and about 80 for PLEO (some people are on both lists).  
If you have submitted a declaration of candidacy but have now decided  
NOT to run, please notify the State Party right away:
monica at wa-democrats.org, jaxon at wa-democrats.org or 206-583-0664. The  
State Party is working with the Obama campaign, and the Election  
Committee (the national delegates elected at the CD caucuses) to  
devise a democratic process for conducting these elections that won't  
take 12 or more hours to conduct.  Elections begin at 10 a.m. on  
Sunday, June 15th.
Note: The Affirmative Action goals for the Obama delegation have been  
met, with the exception of 1 LGBT and 1 Hispanic who will need to be  
elected either as an At Large or a PLEO.
