Subject: Urgent: UTC Hearing tomorrow (Puget Sound Energy takeover)
To: "Pickett, Paul" <earthwater at gmail.com>
Hello Paul ...
Our organization spearheaded the citizen movement in Skagit County to bring
local awareness to the takeover of Puget Sound Energy by Marquarie Bank of
Australia. We're contacting you because we wanted to be sure that somebody
in Thurston County was paying attention to this impending transaction which
could happen as early as this fall.
TOMORROW IN OLYMPIA - June 4th, 6:30 pm at the WUTC facility, 1300 S.
Evergreen Park Dr SW - the UTC is holding the last of three public hearings
on this issue.
This is a formal hearing and testimony will be recorded. (It is not a
question-and-answer session; rather an opportunity for citizens to tell the
UTC why they believe the takeover is not in the public's interest and could
do more harm than good.) I'm hoping that Thurston County citizens will show
up in huge numbers -- just as Skagit, Island & Whatcom citizens flooded the
room in Bellingham last month. Incidentally, that crowd was 100% opposed to
the takeover and of the 8000 comments received by UTC so far, 95% are
against the takeover.
Written Comments are also being accepted by UTC at: comments at utc.wa.gov and
by the State Attorney General's Public Counsel at: utility at atg.wa.gov .
We have done a lot of research on Macquarie and haven't found one positive
thing they have to offer PSE customers. We also support Public Utility
Districts which are considering a public takeover of PSE.
Please contact me or go to-- www.SavePSE.org -- for more information about
the potential impacts of a Macquarie takeover.
